Halloween Spider Cupcakes Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Cupcakes:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup whole milk
For the Frosting:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2-3 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Purple and orange gel food coloring
Instructions:
Prepare the Cupcakes:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk, and beat until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- Fill the cupcake liners about 2/3 full of the batter and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cupcakes cool completely on a wire rack.
Make the Frosting:
- In a large bowl, beat the butter until smooth.
- Gradually add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, and beat on low speed until combined.
- Add vanilla extract and 2-3 tablespoons of milk to adjust the consistency. Beat until the frosting is smooth and creamy.
- Divide the frosting into two bowls. Color one batch orange and the other purple using gel food coloring.
Decorate the Cupcakes:
- Pipe the frosting onto the cooled cupcakes in a swirl pattern (use a piping bag or a spoon for a rustic swirl).
- Place plastic spider decorations on top of each cupcake to mimic the look in the images.
- Add additional Halloween-themed candies or decorations, like black icing for extra details or candy eyes for spooky effects.
